The Venkat Center for Skin ENT and Plastic Surgery is a unique institute dedicated to the delivery of world-class advanced skin, plastic and cosmetic treatments to all sections of patients. Started in 2003, as Venkat Charmalaya, the centre quickly grew to be an institute of excellence in Dermatology and Hair Transplantation in Bangalore, of international repute.
The Venkat Center (formerly Venkat Charmalaya) was first established in Vijayanagar, Bangalore in 2003 by Dr. Venkataram Mysore and Dr. Jayashree Venkataram upon their return from abroad to Bangalore. It quickly grew in size and stature to establish itself as one of the premier institutes for dermatology in the country.
During this time, Dr. Venkataram Mysore was one of the pioneers to introduce hair transplantation in India after training in Korea.
Dr Jayashree Venkataram similarly was a pioneer in tumescent liposuction after training in the USA. Both of them grew to become internationally recognised authorities in their fields, and the centre has performed over 3000 hair transplants and 1000 liposuction to date. They also introduced several other facilities such as lasers, aesthetic and skin treatments, to establish Venkat Charmlaya as a premier skin institute in India.
The success of the centre led to the establishment of two other branches, in Cunningham Road and Banashankari. It also led to the institution of a postgraduate fellowship program, recognised by the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences. Today this fellowship position is one of the most coveted for aspiring dermatologists.
Dr Aniketh Venkataram joined the centre in 2016 and introduced plastic surgery services. He is one of the most highly trained cosmetic plastic surgeons in India, having trained in the USA, Belgium, Istanbul, Taiwan and Dubai.
Dr Deeksha Venkataram joined the centre in 2018 and started ENT services. Having graduated from the prestigious KMC Manipal, she is well-versed in all ENT services with a special interest in allergy treatment, vertigo and snoring treatment.
At present the centre is one of the largest facilities for Skin and Plastic Surgery in the country, employing 10 doctors and 30 staff. It has also gained a reputation for providing ethical care. The centre remains committed to community services and offers a special clinic ‘Shraddha’ for underprivileged populations. The centre has also published several community education booklets.
The institute has Dr Venkataram Mysore and Dr Jayashree Venkataram as directors, Dr Aniketh Venkataram as head of plastic surgery and 4 dermatologists. Venkat Center also has 4 fellowship students in cosmetic dermatology, affiliated with the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka.
The staff of the institute have credit for 130 publications and presentations in national and international journals and conferences. They also have authored 7 books so far. Dr. Venkataram Mysore has been the past president of the Indian Association of Dermatologists, and the Association of Hair Restoration Surgeons of India. He is the only Indian to be honoured by the American Society of Dermatologists.
The institute runs from 8.30 am to 8 pm and on Sundays from 9 am to 12.30 pm. The building has electronic security. The institute attracts patients from around the world for advanced cosmetic procedures.

Dr Venkataram Mysore has published several educational books in English as well as Kannada, to help educate patients about their condition. These are frequently distributed at various social awareness camps conducted by the Venkat Center.
For underprivileged patients, we offer Shraddha clinic every day from 8.30 am to 9.30 am, where patients are seen at nominal rates, irrespective of background. Discounts are also given for all procedures. This is our aim to ensure that no one is exempt from quality medical care.
Burn scars are a stigma that many people have to live with. This is a struggle that disproportionately affects economically weaker members of society. We offer state-of-the-art dermatology, laser and plastic surgery services to help these patients at reduced rates. We aim to help our patients live free from stigma.
Vitiligo is a disease that carries a great deal of social stigma. Although the condition is not serious, and cannot spread between individuals, these patients are often discriminated against and excluded from society. We offer state-of-the-art treatments including phototherapy, and vitiligo surgery, at affordable prices to help our patients lead a normal life.
Our daily outpatient attendance is about 70-80 patients. We have a reception area which is served by three receptionists at all times. The registration of patients is computerised. There are three waiting areas for patients to allow comfortable seating. Television and music are provided in the reception area. Separate toilets for men and women, and drinking water facilities are available. A computer kiosk is available for patient education. Health education brochures, posters, books and CDs are prominently displayed. All our staff have been trained to provide counselling. A nutritionist is available on call.
Dr. Venkataram Mysore is one of the foremost dermatologists in India and the world. He is a unique combination of dermatologist, dermatopathologist and hair transplant surgeon, with over 30 years of experience in different countries. He is a pioneer in the field of Hair Transplantation, having been trained in Korea, Orlando, Poland and other countries.
Dr Jayashree Venkataram is a director at Venkat Centre for Advanced Dermatology, Bangalore, where she practices cosmetic gynaecology; liposuction surgery, laser lipolysis and feminine rejuvenation. She has been honoured as a founder member of the Field Fournier Lipo group in DASIL.
Dr Jayashree Venkataram has undergone training in laser feminine rejuvenation in Slovenia. She has also written chapters in four books and published papers on the subject, which are shown above. As one of the very few women liposuction surgeons, she has performed nearly 1000 liposuctions, with particular expertise in gynaecomastia.
Venkat Center is proud to provide plastic surgery services. Our consultant Plastic Surgeon is Dr. Aniketh Venkataram who has trained extensively in all cosmetic surgery procedures. He trained in Dubai for body contouring, Belgium for Facial Plastic Surgery, Istanbul for Rhinoplasty and USA for Breast Surgery.
As well as this, he is an expert in Hair Transplantation, having co-authored a textbook with Dr. Venkataram Mysore, and minimally invasive treatments such as lasers, Botox and fillers. He has also researched Varicose Vein treatment, offering sclerotherapy and endovenous lasers.
Venkat Center is known for its expertise in procedural dermatology. There are as many as five procedures (including one major operation theatre, two minor theatres, and two laser rooms). Numerous procedures are performed daily; these include general dermatology procedures such as biopsies, minor laboratory procedures such as smears, stains, trichoscans and trichograms, excisions, electrocautery, radio-frequency, cryosurgery, iontophoresis etc.
Four phototherapy machines (including targeted phototherapy) make our phototherapy department one of the best-equipped departments. Specialised aesthetic procedures such as lasers, chemical peels, microdermabrasion, Botulinum toxin, fillers, sclerotherapy, etc are also performed regularly.
Our centre is well known for advanced surgical procedures such as hair transplantation and liposuction, which are performed daily and patients from all over the world visit us. A unique feature is that we perform all types of vitiligo surgery (including the latest basal cell suspension methods).
The centre has a laboratory to perform all routine haematological and biochemical investigations. The centre has two microscopes. Venkat Center is known for its dermatopathology department. Dr Venkataram Mysore is qualified from the Royal College of Pathologists, UK and is one of the very few recognised dermatopathologists in the country. Facilities for projection onto the computer and for photomicrography are available.
